All cultures are different, some share similar languages or traditions for example, but they are all fundamentally individual. Why is it then, we feel the need to categorize those of other cultures? Is it a response to frustration, or a need to go beyond information given? Are these stereotypes an evolution of history or a product of our time? Stereotypes are believed to serve multiple functions which reflect a variety of cognitive and motivational processes. However where do these perceptions come from and do those they perceive acknowledge and approve of them?
This 18 page booklet aims to have the students think about and answer these questions as well as carry out their own investigation into stereotyping
